Near here is the Reserve Biologique Dirigée de la Forêt Domaniale de Valduniellu, established to study the longevity of laricio pines, some of which are over 300 years old.

The pines can reach heights of over 30 meters (100 feet), which proves to be a good measure of height as one climbs down into valleys. If the pines are still matchsticks, you still have a long way to go.
