At the cross that marks the summit of Monte Incudine (2,134 m), we stopped to admire the view and take photographs. Here I stand with Fred (of Haute Savoie, now in Montreal) and Gilles (of Paris), two hikers we had encountered several times over the past few days and with whom we had become friendly.
